Hull Docks

Hull Docks
January 2012

Somehow I always find myself seeking out the watery quarters of town - have the Eagles written a song on the subject?

A recent visit to Hull provided an opportunity to have a look at the old town, the old fishing quarter which has been undergoing something of renaissance lately. The trade may be gone but rather than tearing down all the abandoned warehouses, the City has refurbished them into flats and built a big new museum.

I hadn't appreciated just how much of Hull used to be docks, the old town was a virtual island!

Not a lot of story to this post, just a series of images gleaned from a walk around the old waterfront.

  1. You're not alone - we always get distracted by waterways wherever we are - and when we're watching the telly trying to work out where things were filmed - often unsuccessfully - programme/film makers seem to think that the plot is more important than showing the location properly - tsk!

ps. The Hull flood barrier looks just like Barking Creek - only more squat - must be a standard design.
