Withymoor Branch - Windmill End

The Withymoor was a short branch canal near Windmill End, built to reach the Withymoor brick Works at Darby End, with its entrance lining up into the Withymoor Furnaces basin, in 1843. 

Although the scene below looks quite urban, this area was covered with a chain works and a boat dock. The Windmill end of the canal to Netherton Turnpike Road Bridge you can see in the centre of the picture was sold in 1965 with the southern section sold to Dudley Council the year before for use as the housing estate we see today.
