Thorne
5th August 2011
You may have felt that the photo's in my last post was a bit over focused on the New Junction Canal and that I failed to do Thorne justice.
Thorne Market Square
This is a little town I nave passed many times on my way to and from my in laws in Hull, but have never stopped. Our passage along the Stainforth and Keadby Canal offered an opportunity to correct this omission. We moored in the small basin next to Thorne Marine and refilled our water tank, taking a look at the book exchange whilst we were about it.
A less than inspirational view of the market
Leaving Jeff to guard the boat we ventured into town, admiring the expansive park with its pretty fountain. The market is a bit underwhelming but the pedestrian area was attractive and well frequented. There is a supermarket somewhere, but we used the Co-Op which was closer and had all we needed. We also found a motor spares shop who were able to supply an oil filter remover to help us with our forthcoming engine service.
Porch of Thorne Church
and it's interior.
But enough words - take a look at the photos.
