Brewood in colour

Beautiful Brewood
September 2010

There is more to Brewood than the visitor moorings of the pub by the bridge - lots more.

Brewood High Street and "Speedwell Castle"

 Brewood Market Square

Berewood is an ancient village but one which is very much alive and cared for. It has won the best kept village in the county several times and it is clearly treasured by i'ts residents. It's Georgian centre is so fine it was formally protected as a Conservation Area way back in the 1960's, but that hasn't stifled it's relevance on the 21st century.

Perhaps the best thing about the village centre is its vibrancy, with a good selection of shops, pubs and eateries.

Andy,
I always enjoy a visit to Brewood, often the focus of a weekend trip from Norbury Junction. But I think you'll find the "castle" is actually "Speedwell Castle" supposedly named after a racehorse, whose winnings paid for its construction!
