Aerial shot of Halford Branch, Coles Lane Bridge, above. If you follow Coles Lane on the shot to the V on the right there are houses near the V (the junction with Witton Lane - which runs up left to another bridge over the cut) our house was in Coles Lane near the V, which contains a pub the "Gough Arms"....this pub had an unusual feature, a grass tennis court at the rear, our house backed onto this. In maybe 1950 when I was 5, the canal at Coles Land bridge was still in water. The terminus, just beyond Witton Lane bridge, the higher one shown was actually only a few hundred metres from the Tame Valley canal which was at a lower level.
